Spinach
The spinach plant belongs to the order Caryophyllales and the family of Chenopodiaceae. It is mainly cultivated in Europe and North America while its origin is from Asia.
A one-year or two-year plant is grown for its thick triangular leaves. These are near the root having a deep green color and a smooth or wavy surface.
Spinach is marketed fresh, canned or frozen. It can still be stored in common freezers after it has been hot for a very long time.
Eaten cooked (spinach, spinach spinach), various pies (spinach pie) or still eaten and raw in various salads. It has a high content of iron and vitamins A, C, E and K, chlorophyll, iodine salts and saponins.
It is very good in bowel function and anemia. In Greece, about 25,000 acres are cultivated and the annual production reaches 36,000 tons.
